I vividly recall the "First Gulf War". I did smell something quite rotten. All the "Peaceniks" suddenly disappeared, as if a thousand bulbs were just abruptly switched off. We all had to tie a yellow ribbon around our oak tree and "support the troops", which was code for "support the war". But wait just a darned cotton-picking minute. Wasn't Saddam our friend in the Middle East, sticking it to those Evil Iranians? And yes, those who could not have found Kuwait on a map to save their souls also were clueless about the history of this fake country- carved out of historic Iraq by the British as a sort of corollary to Wilson's "Ten Points". So Iraq overruns this rinkydink little country at the cost of something like 30 lives and the populace wakes up to a new flag flying over the capitol. And they really did not seem to care all that much, so why should we? Of course, what is little known about the First Gulf War is the "Highway of Death" where about half a million Iraqi soldiers and citizens of Kuwait who were partisans of Saddam and actually wanted to emigrate to Iraq for a better life were ambushed and massacred by primarily US military forces. Freedom and democracy? Saddam's Iraq had that in spades, where Sunni and Shia Muslims, along with Chaldean Catholics, got along just fine in the most secular Muslim nation by far.
You said "Hitler will probably never be topped". Incredible statement, in the light of history. Several of his contemporaries easily topped this man: Roosevelt, Churchill, Mao... to say nothing of Stalin. It has never been documented Hitler ordered the murder of anybody other than the Claus von Stauffenberg (himself a tragic figure) reprisals. The "Holocaust" has certainly never been documented. Meanwhile, the tens of millions of people murdered by Stalin are easily documented. Whole warehouses full of the bones of the deceased have been found. And numerous pictures, films, and accounts exist of the "Holodomor".

From the German's Bayoneting babies to the Hamas beheading babies- it is always babies- maybe it will come out that one of the Iran rockets fell on the nursery ward of a hospital, killing 33 babies- the narrative never changes.
